This ultra light, oil free formula is great for both hair and skin, and is almost as good as using fresh aloe vera everyday, but without the mess! Only pure aloe vera juice is used, totally undiluted unlike most aloe vera based skin and hair products available in the market today. A little vegetable glycerin (a natural humectant) is added to help attract moisture to the skin and keep the skin feeling dewy soft for longer.
Benefits of aloe vera include:

- Great oil free conditioner for oily hair types
- Improves the natural ability of the skin to hydrate itself
- Helpful in removing dead skin cells and has the ability for effective penetration and transports healthy substances through the skin
- Useful for preventing the aging of the skin
- Helps to lighten dark spots on the face and reduces the intensity of pigmentation
Why are silicones not good for your hair and skin?
Silicone is a chemically derived product with occlusive qualities. What this means in terms of skincare is that covering the skin to protect and keep the moisture in. By doing so, silicone also fills in uneven skin texture like fine lines and acne scars so it gives the illusion of great skin when foundation is applied over it. This is why most makeup primers in the market will contain silicones because it helps the primer do its work i.e. prime the skin for makeup. In hair products, silicone is commonly found in hair serums and conditioners. It is what gives that shine to the hair and makes it feel smooth and soft. The principle is pretty much the same. The silicone coats the hair so it feels and looks soft and smooth.
Because the silicone sits in a layer on top of the skin keeping in moisture, it also keeps in any sebum, dirt and bacteria that may already be on the skin. Once the skin is irritated, it will breakout. So, it is common to hear people say that silicones in products break them out. Also, prolonged use of silicones may also lead to allergic reactions and may cause sensitive skin to react adversely. Eczema flareups may occur and on the face acne or spots will form. This may be one of the reasons why certain hair conditioners can cause acne breakouts. Also, large doses of silicone can be toxic, which is an issue as silicones tend to build up if not washed away with a proper cleanser, especially on your hair. Continuous build up of silicone on hair will eventually cause your hair to be dry and frizzy.
A much safer and healthier alternative is using natural silk protein instead of synthetic based silicones. Hydrolyzed from silk fiber that is naturally high in protein, it has been used nutritionally for hundreds of years as a functional ingredient in pharmaceutical applications. More recently, silk protein has been gaining popularity in high quality cosmeceutical applications due to its high amino acid content and valuable contribution towards nourishing the skin and hair. It is also admired for its ability to lend a smooth, silky feel to cosmetic formulations. It also helps minimize wrinkles and can reduce the signs of aging when included in skin care formulations.
To summarize, the benefits of silk protein include:
- Reduces Dryness
- Balances Moisture
- Promotes skin and hair elasticity
- Lends shine to hair
- Anti-bacterial
- Excellent skin and hair permeability
- Provides a silky texture

Directions for use on face: Always shake bottle before use. Apply on cleansed skin. The most economical way is to carefully spray about 3 - 4 times into your cupped clean fingers, and then using both hands to gently dab the liquid over entire face and neck area. Alternatively, you can use a cotton pad or spray directly onto the face. Just remember to avoid direct eye contact as the essential oils may sting. Relax for about 30 seconds to allow the liquid to be absorbed fully into your skin before applying moisturizer or make up. Use at least twice a day, morning and night. You can spritz it on your skin in between if you need to.
Directions for use on hair: Always shake the bottle before use. Apply as a leave-in hair conditioner, spraying on towel dried hair and scalp. Do this before you comb your hair as it is a great hair detangler and will make wet combing so much easier. Can also be applied on dry hair and in-between hair washes to refresh your hair and provide some added conditioning.
Important Note: Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. If you're not using it on a daily basis, I recommend to store the product in the fridge. This product contains food grade preservatives that are a lot milder than most cosmetic grade preservatives. Although they may be kinder to your skin and hair, they are not as effective. This product will be okay for around 2 months if kept properly and not in the fridge. If you plan have the product for longer than 2 months, store it in the fridge. If you are using the regular sized (65ml) bottle on a daily basis, it should last about 3 - 4 weeks.
